Principal’s Message, Week 5, Term 4

Kia ora,

EPro 8
Some exciting news coming from our EPRO 8 team winning the regional competition on Monday. The team (Harrison McQuillan, Jason Lin, Zahara Slatter and Tashy Haigh) participated in the quarter finals the week before. They competed with 12 other schools to progress into the finals, where they faced another 12 schools from around the region. I watched as they began the finals and I was very impressed with their teamwork, knowledge and how efficient they were making decisions and supporting each other. Well done team!

Wearable Arts
The school ran a wearable arts evening last week. It was amazing to see the students’ creations and how they demonstrated their creativity and innovation. The wearable arts has given students the opportunity to express themselves in a creative manner. A huge thanks must go to Mr Manville and his team for supporting the students through this process. It certainly was enjoyable to watch and a wonderful evening had by all.

Interschool Cross Country 2020
Congratulations everyone! Fairfield placed 3rd for overall results!

William Pike
Luke was nominated this year as our recipient for the Sir Peter Blake Young Leaders Award on behalf of Fairfield School. Luke is an exceptional young leader who demonstrates his leadership skills on a daily basis. He was part of the William Pike Challenge Award last year and found this successful. Luke applied to be part of our William Pike programme again this year as a leader to help mentor other participants, he has done a fantastic job of this. Luke is involved in the wider community and has volunteered his time as part of community service. He helps others in our school setting and is a model for his peers.

Darcey’s update – as mentioned in the previous newsletter (pictures from Darcey’s wonderful trip down South).
