Principal’s Message Term 1, Week 4

Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Our family picnic will be held this Thursday, 27th February from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm.  This is a great time to meet with other parents, students and to talk to your child’s teachers while enjoying a meal together.  The school will be supplying some sausages, but please bring your meal.  We hope to see you there!
Room 7 and Room 13 joined together for Tukana/Teina Time.  Their challenge was to create a habitat for a frog using a variety of different materials.  There was a lot of discussion about what a frog would need to survive.  The children in Room 7 love building relationships with the older children and saying hello to them in the playground.

Adult Tutor Reading Programme

Fairfield School runs an adult tutor reading programme where parents/grandparents or wider whānau members volunteer their time to read with our students, individually.  This support provides invaluable reading time for our students as they receive one on one reading time with tutors.  We would be incredibly grateful if you have a free hour, once a week, to support our students.  If you are interested please contact Yvonne Nicholson ph 368 5513, email ynicholson@fairfieldlevin.school.nz

School Gala – the countdown is on!

Less than 3 weeks to go.  Keep those helper forms coming in, we need helpers for the food and activity stalls so if you can help for 1 hour or even 2 we need to hear from you.  Thank you to those who have already volunteered, and to those who are working behind the scenes.  We can’t have a successful gala without your help.  On Saturday 7th March we will be having a working bee to get everything ready, if you are available anytime between 10am – 1pm come and join us.

eTAP

We have recently updated our computer system with a great addition.  This now means we can notify our families by email/text of upcoming events, sports etc, with the ability to reply with an electronic signature, this is a great way of ensuring everyone is aware of upcoming events, and with a click of a button you can register your child.  I will update you more on this shortly.

Updating Contact Details/Medical Records

We are currently updating our records to ensure all contact details on file are up-to-date.  Students should all have received an envelope in their bag with a document to be checked and returned to the school office as soon as possible.  Please also let us know if your child has medication they may require during school hours e.g asthma inhalers, antibiotics etc.
