Principal’s Message Week 6 Term 4

Kia ora koutou,

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. The weeks seem to be moving quickly along towards the end of the school year.

ERO will be at school this time next week. All parents are welcome at the Powhiri, please be at the Fairfield Road side of the school by 9:45 am to welcome our visitors. The school is looking forward to this visit and welcome ERO’s findings – it is positive to have external findings that support the continued development of our school.

The survey from the Kelly Club about after school care at Fairfield did not yield enough responses to move forward with the project with any certainty. If you interested in this being offered at Fairfield School and haven’t responded, please do so.

As parents, I thought you may be interested in this short article and video on growth mind set versus fixed mind set. It is a short read and the video runs for just under three minutes.

Cup Cakes at School

Brookelyn and Charlotte from Room 15 raised $154.00 by baking vanilla cupcakes with buttercream icing on Thursday 14th November 2019 to fundraise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
They had the help of Brookelyns dad, Stevo, and Charlotte’s mum, Chrissy, to support them in making our cupcakes on the day.
Brookelyn and Charlotte ended up raising $154.00. We would like to say thank you to all staff members at Fairfield School, and our parents, who donated money and helped us to achieve our goal to help families in need.

Puna-oho Cross Country

The Puna-oho cross country was held last week. The students were super fit and energetic. I was very impressed with their commitment, energy levels, and enthusiasm. I often wonder where my energy levels have gone! The students were well supported by their parents. It was fantastic to see so many parents at school.

Principal’s Message November 11

Dear parents,

I am trying something new this week with the news letter and publishing it on the school website. I am hoping to use the web site more in the future for notices about sports events and other activities at Fairfield School. We are an incredibly busy school and I don’t want you to miss out on any information.

The newsletter will be sent out every Monday morning. This will give you a snapshot of the week ahead and provide education updates and news. All other information will be provided with you via the school app and emails. I will have a link created on the front page of the website and all the sports draws will be posted to this. It has been tricky getting these notices out with the late changes to the draws that are made. Please ensure you check the website for the sports draw as late as 3 pm.

Inter-school cross country
After our successful school cross country last week we took the top 5 runners from each age group to inter-schools on Friday. The students had a fabulous day and demonstrated the school values and sportsmanship.
We had some excellent results from our runners, with Fairfield School winning the Grant Issacs Memorial Trophy for the school with the most points overall!
A big thank you to the parent helpers and staff for making this possible and a huge congratulations to all the Fairfield runners. What an outstanding achievement – Ka pai!

The new school policies have gone live. You can find a link on the front page of the school’s website. The board and school worked tirelessly to ensure the policies reflected the practice ot the school. A acknowledgment must go to Donna Rowe and Sally Rollinson for spearheading this. As parents you are able to give feedback on the policies. Each term 2-3 policies reviewed.
