Kia ora koutou,
With school finishing on Wednesday and Christmas next week, 2019 is nearly complete. What a year of action and learning. I thank all members of the community for their support throughout the school year. A school can not function without the support of all members of the community.
This year we have some of our support staff departing. I would like to acknowledge Rachel Watson, Courtney Van Niekerk, Carla Wardell and Privilege Kambondo for the lives they have touched during their time at Fairfield School. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours. I know they all put in 110 percent to whatever they set their min d to. Good luck to all of you. Don’t be strangers, feel free to visit us at Fairfield School.

Delivery of Winning Speech – Grace Wharehouka
Sports Person of the Year – Seth Anderson
Citzenship Award – Amber Rollinson and Hutch Hodges
Board Star Award – Riley Codlin
Cultural Awards – Primo Halbert and Jackson Shuker
Academic Award-  Cole Campbell
Amber Rollinson: Scholarship at Horowhenua College
Amber has been awarded a scholarship to Horowhenua College for Performing Arts in 2020.  To apply for the scholarship she wrote a letter to Mr Congdon (Principal at Horowhenua College) saying why she should be awarded the scholarship. Amber wrote down all the opportunities she has been given this year including SHOWQUEST, and productions etc. After that Amber went to Horowhenua College for an interview and had to answer a lot of difficult questions. A few weeks later Amber received a call from Mr. Congdon and she couldn’t believe it when she heard the words “I’m honoured to offer you a scholarship to Horowhenua College”.
Below is a link to some of Amber’s work at Fairfield School.

Gala NoticeOver the years, we have had amazing success raising money at our galas, and that is only because of the commitment and support of families and local businesses in our community.
The Fairfield Community Group have agreed that the funds raised from this gala will be used to purchase STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) equipment, as well as other play-based learning items, making wonderful additions to our children’s learning in their classrooms.  In previous years the money raised has been allocated to the beautification project which is still on-going. Money that has not been spent has been assigned for the completion of this project, which we hope to complete in the near future. For more information please email FCG@fairfieldlevin.school.nzWe need your help:  For the success of the gala we are asking for help from every school family.  We have many jobs; in the lead up, on the day, and the day after.  Maybe you own or work for a business that would be interested in donating items for our raffles and mystery envelope prizes, we would love to hear from you also!

Food and Cake Stall donations: Closer to the date we will be asking for donations of various food items, as well as some baking for the cake stall which is always a quick sell out.

We need your Jumble! Now’s a great time to have a pre-Christmas clean out.  Bring us your jumble for the White Elephant stall. Any household items in good condition (toys, books, appliances, clothing) can be dropped off at the school office anytime from now on.

Funny money up for grabs!  All helpers will go into the 4 weekly draws leading up to the gala to win $10 funny money to spend at the gala!
For more information please email the Fairfield Community Group at FCG@fairfieldlevin.school.nz or contact Kirstin Chamberlain, Gala Co-ordinator, ph 021 294 2245.
We are looking forward to another successful gala and hope to see you there.

Principal’s Message, Term 4, Week 9

Kia ora koutou,

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Not long until the summer holiday begins and we all get to spend time with family and friends.

This week we have our Year 8 graduation on Friday evening, please be at Waiopehu College at 6:40 pm. Graduation will begin at 7pm. This is a great opportunity to farewell our Year 8 students.

In the interests of safety, when we use the Fairfield gates to come and go from school can we ensure they are closed behind us. A lot of our junior students are at that end of the school. I want to make sure they are safely on the school side of the gates. Thank you for your continued support.

The last day of school for this year is Wednesday, 18 December, all students will be released from school at 12:30 pm. Then, let the summer fun begin!

Principal’s Message Term 4, Week 8

Kia ora koutou,

We had a positive visit by the Education Review Office (ERO) last week; They affirmed all the great things we do at Fairfield School and gave us three recommendations to work on. The recommendations were tweaks to things we are already doing, really moving from good to great in those areas. The final report will not be complete for another month. When the final report is shared with the school, I will share this with you on line. At this stage, we can all be very proud of our school.

The last day of school for this year is Wednesday, 18 December, all students will be released from school at 12:30 pm. Let the summer fun begin!
