Principal’s Message Term 3, Week 3

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Last week we had learning conferences, there was a strong turn out from our parent body, which was great. Supporting the school in turn supports your child. We are looking forward to a wonderful term 3 at Fairfield School.

As you are aware sports is beginning again. We have many of our students participating in the weekend.

A few of the neighbours have connected with me asking me to request that cars in the morning and afternoon do not park in front of their driveways. There have been times when they are unable to get out of their driveways; they are are worried in an emergency they will be unable to leave their house.

PB4L

This year we are starting the process of using PB4L at our school. As a part of this, we are wanting to know your thoughts on our school values, where they are now and where we could take these in the future. Follow this link bit.ly/ffspb4l and fill out the questionnaire. We will be running a draw for someone to win a Pak n Save voucher! This video shares more information about PB4L at Fairfield School.

Principal’s Message, Term 3, Week 2.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

This week we have learning conferences. As I have shared with you previously, a reminder that Wednesday 29th July is a teachers only day with school being closed for instruction on this day. Learning conferences will be held on this day as well. After school on the 30th July if there are any conferences to complete we will hold these after school, starting at 3:00 pm until 5:45 pm to finish the conferences. If you have any questions about learning conferences, please feel free to contact your classroom teacher.

The only exception for learning conferences are the students of Mrs Burns and Mrs Patrick’s classes. Parents of students in these classrooms have been contacted already and have had their learning conferences.

Gala Funds

The school gala has raised significant funds for the school in the past few years. As you may be aware this year money was raised for STEAM and play-based learning. The teachers will be reviewing these areas and placing orders very soon.

The last two years the funding was allocated to support our school beautification, of which some things have been purchased and included the picnic tables. We have an idea to write our school values on the poles at the Fairfield Road entrance along with creating a more inviting space to enter our school, with some playground equipment for our younger students. At the moment the board are reviewing our school values in alignment with the positive behaviour management system (PB4L) that we are introducing into our school. Once this process has been completed we will be in a position to start the beautification process. I will share more on this later in the term. It is very exciting to begin a project like this where everyone in the community will benefit.

Buddy Bench Community Project

Last week we received our new buddy bench, this has been a project that students have been working on and consulting with Waiopehu College students on the design, as part of our ongoing community projects.

You will see in the picture below that the bench reflects our school tree, house logos and school values. A great design and well thought through, well done everyone involved. Make sure to come and check out the bench.
